Annual QFC Symposium 2023

17 May 2023

Translational Research Institute

Last Wednesday the 17th of May, we held the Annual Queensland Family Cohort Symposium at TRI. Jahmarley Dawson an emerging leader delivered the Welcome to Country and provided an insight into the history of the Turrbal people and the diversity of country through his language.

Professor Michael Kimlin opened the symposium, and our invited talk was from Professor Josephine Forbes was “all the RAGE” focused on kidney health. The breadth of research from leading senior researchers, mid-career, early career researchers and PhD students was exceptional with research topics focusing from nutrition to musculoskeletal and physical exercise to mental health and pregnancy to genomics and social determinants of health.

We thank the speakers for their time in discussing their research using QFC data, but most of all we thank our participants for providing their time and themselves to grow the body of literature that will help support Queensland Families in the future.
