What is the Queensland Family Cohort Study?
The Queensland Family Cohort study is aiming to improve healthcare, shape policy, and support future generations. We're looking at current factors that influence both physical and mental health of parents and children — starting in pregnancy and continuing throughout early childhood.
Understanding health needs of Queensland families

The Queensland Family Cohort study began in 2018 with a pilot study of over 400 families, followed for 5-years. We’re now expanding to recruit a larger and more diverse group of families across Queensland.
Understanding early life causes of disease

We aim to do this by understanding family circumstances such as employment, education and housing, mental health and wellbeing, environmental exposures, impacts of climate change and genomic profiles for a subset of the cohort.
Providing important benefits to the QLD community

By participating, you’re helping us build a clearer picture of what supports families to thrive. Our team of researchers will use the findings to inform real changes in healthcare and public policy that benefit Queenslanders now and into the future.
