Queensland Family Cohort Pilot
​The Queensland Family Cohort - Pilot study began in 2018 and concluded in 2022, the study recruited over 450 families at the Mater Mothers’ Hospital. This study involved face to face visits, surveys, scans and biological samples. During the pandemic our families completed their surveys online and instead of visiting our midwife, sent their samples via the post.
Impact of the QFC Pilot Findings



Contributed to the development of the QLD Women’s and Girls Health Strategy.

Findings supported the development of family-centred perinatal mental health care at Mater.
Used in the development of QLD Health funded, Women’s Health Line.

Raised community awareness of sedentary behaviour in pregnancy.
Identified new placental mechanisms that can identify babies at risk of stillbirth.
